Yellow Rose Eventing is a collection of wonderful & amazing people who I am so fortunate to spend my time with. Oh and the horses are pretty cool too!
HORSES
SIR DONOVAN

"Donald" is a 17.2h 7 year old ISH born & bred in Ireland. He was bought from Nick Cwick, assistant trainer to Buck Davidson. Donald has a personality as big as himself. He is an incredibly talented jumper, an expressive mover, and sometimes a major pain! His fiesty attitude and obvious talent makes him Katie's favorite competition horse. Donald is a confirmed Advanced horse, with no XC jump penalties at Advanced to date including Plantation CIC3* and Fair Hill CCI3*. His handsome face will be showing up this spring at The Fork CIC3* and possibly Kentucky CCI4*. Donald enjoys corrupting Pickles, doughnuts and his best friend Hewie.
ROSETTA STONE
"Noodle" is an 9 year old American bred TB mare owned by Yellow Rose Eventing. She was bought off the track as a 2 year old due to her obvious lack of racing talent. Katie brought Noodle along through the ranks to the Intermediate level. She has been very consistant at Preliminary with 4 good finishes at the 1* level. She is a solid citizen who delivers a consistant performance every time. Noodle enjoys dunking hay and climbing round bales. Noodle had a gorgeous TB/HAN baby on August 10 2010 that we call Pickles!
HOUDINI
"Hewie" is a 6 year old American bred TB gelding owned by Yellow Rose Eventing. Due to his extreme non competitiveness, he was quickly rushed off the racetrack and into the YRE barn. Hewie has shown tremendous potential as a sporthorse, placing in the top 5 in both his first Training level events. He is a confirmed Preliminary horse and boasts a near-perfect XC record, Mom was the one to fudge it up with a fly-by on course. Hewie will be going to a spring or summer one star. His curious and playful personality makes him a favorite with the staff. Hewie enjoys Pickles and his best friend Donald, running sideways, and is deathly afraid of stumps.
COMPASS ROSE
"Chloe" is a 4 year old Trakhener/Hanoverian/TB cross owned by Yellow Rose Eventing. She was bred in VA and comes from a long line of dressage & hunter champions. She has had a few very successful outings at FEH shows and even represented the farm at the 2009 Rolex 3 Day Event in the young horse demonstration. Chloe is smart and opinionated, traits that will certainly make her a fierce competitor. She is going extremely well undersaddle and will be competing BN and in the YEH-4 as well. Chloe loves to talk and is high maintenence. She also likes to kick our hay guy.
PICKLES
Pickles is our newest addition to the farm, he was born at 2am on Monday, August 10, 2009. His mother is the fabulous Intermediate eventer Rosetta Stone, and his father is the talented Hanoverian Silvio (By Sandro Hit). At 3 weeks old it's clear that this boy can trot and jump, and is here to conquer the world! Pickles favorite pastime is biting. Anything and anyone. Including a $250 Figure-8 bridle. Striking out is a close second. His list of dislikes is long, including but not limited to: Being ignored, wearing a halter, wearing a blanket, and waiting.
STUDENT: Mary-Catherine Riley
MC Riley, a 14 year old student of YRE, is currently riding her own amazing Major Addiction at the Novice level, along with anything else she can get her hands on! She is dedicated and determined. MC enjoys talking to herself and limbo. I am also proud to give her the full title of professional creeper.
STUDENT: Annie Bleecker
Annie is our newest addition to YRE, but has quickly become one of our family. She is talented and a fierce competitor. She has a fabulous TB gelding named Skippy who will be competing at Novice this year. Annie's wonderful parents also are riders and are interested in fox hunting and eventing. Annie enjoys doing the worm and is the ultimate schemer.
STUDENTS: Hannah & Olivia Reynolds

Hannah & Boo Reynolds.. veteran horse showers, wise and talented beyond their years! These super young ladies have a barnful of ponies, donkeys, horses and chickens! This year Hannah is moving up to BN and Boo is making her Elementary debut. We are all certain that there are two future Rolex champions amongst us! Hannah and Boo enjoy herding ducks in the creek & counting ticks.
STUDENTS: Brooke & Lauren Mannix
Brooke and Lauren are young eventing superstars.. their parents have bred them a string of future eventers that will be burning up the scene. Lauren had a great year at BN with her mare Summer and will move up to Novice this spring. She also enjoys riding her young her Cheyenne who will be making her BN debut in Aiken. In 2009 Brooke was the Intro & BBN ringer riding Sneaky Pete and never came home ribbonless! Brooke and Lauren enjoy eating push pops and abstract art.
STUDENT: Liz Hattenburg
Liz is a new and wonderful addition to our team, she owns a fantastic boarding barn in Adamstown called Black Dog Farm. She and her gorgeous chestnut gelding Ernie are looking to qualify for AEC's next fall. In addition to being an event rider, Liz is a serious dressage competitor who just competed in her first Prix St. George test! She also can hold her own in the jumper ring. Liz enjoys playing cops and robbers and s'mores.
