Katie Ruppel

Raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Katie was "born into the business" and began riding at an early age. Her father bred & managed a farm of sucessful Thoroughbred race horses. Katie began showing in the hunter world at the age of 10, and by 12 she had discovered eventing. She has a strong background in Pony Club, her mother was the DC of the Kalamazoo Valley Chapter for 2 years. Katie climbed the levels of eventing to the Advanced level, completing her first three star in September of 2009. 2009 was a very successful year, Katie produced Sir Donovan at the 3* level and took 3rd in the USEF National Championship (22-25 year old division) at Fair Hill. Prior to this, Katie has successfully completed 6 two-star events all over the country and numerous one-star events. She has had several successful upper level mounts, most of which she brought along herself. Katie was a member of the 2008 Bronze medal winning CCI2* team at the North American Young Rider's Championships, finishing 9th individually. Most of her skill and knowledge is thanks to the excellent and correct coaching she recieved from Advanced level eventers Sean McQuillan and Mara Dean over the years. Currently Katie recieves excellent coaching from Buck and Bruce Davidson. She has also competed in the A circuit hunters, Level V Jumpers and has foxhunted with 5 different packs.

Although she loves the thrill of competing at the upper levels, Katie most enjoys bringing along young horses and watching them succeed. Katie attended Albion College to study Chemistry where she was a member of the Intercollegiate Equestrian team and also the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.  She loves cooking and entertaining, gardening, writing, playing ball with her two shepherds, Ebay and The Office.
